Each year, the Office of Women’s Health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services celebrates National Women’s Health Week by urging women to make their health a priority and schedule a visit with a doctor. This year’s campaign focus was on prevention and encouraged women to speak with their health care provider to learn more about what screening exams are needed and when. With the guidance from the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF), a list of recommended screening tests based on a women’s age is widely used.
On Monday, President Barrack Obama issued a presidential proclamation for the observance, emphasizing the Affordable Care Act requires most insurance plans to cover basic health services, including contraceptive, prenatal, and maternity care. “Today, tens of millions of women are benefiting from expanded access to preventive care under the law — services which can lead to early detection of some of the many health challenges that disproportionately affect women”, the proclamation reads.
CTK Biotech supports efforts to promote women’s health by offering a complete line of screening tests for parameters specifically recommended by the USPSTF and CDC. “Development of screening tests that impact women’s health is one of the primary goals of CTKs product development pipeline”, said Dr. Catherine Chen, CEO of CTK Biotech. “In fact, later this year, we will launch an entire ToRCH panel that will empower women to take control of their health, and the health of their baby, before, during and after a pregnancy.”
