oday, on World AIDS Day, people across the globe are raising awareness and joining in the fight against HIV and AIDS. Despite many efforts, decades of research and clinical trials, an HIV vaccine has not been forthcoming. The world has made great strides in halting and reversing the spread of this killer virus, through awareness campaigns, effective screening and prevention programs, yet, according to the WHO, HIV continues to be a major global public health issue having claimed 1.2 million lives in 2014.
