CTK IS PROUD TO PRESENT OUR NEW TORCH PANEL
What is ToRCH testing?
Prenatal Screening of five prevalent, infectious diseases among women of childbearing age:
Toxoplasma 11%
Rubella 6-17%
CMV 45-100%
HSV-1 & HSV-2 14-32%
These infections may cause:
- Mild symptoms in a healthy individual
- Severe damage and even death in a developing fetus or newborn child
- Serious complications in the immunocompromised, such as HIV or transplant patients
Detection and Indications
- A quick and effective way to determine an individual’s infection status is by detecting the antibodies that are produced by the body’s immune system in response to a specific infection.
- Detection of IgG and/or IgM is the most common method for the diagnosis of TORCH infections. The test results may indicate.
ToRCH screening can allow for immediate medical attention, treatment or precautionary action
For pregnant women or women planning to become pregnant, these might include:
- Before pregnancy: Planning vaccination for CMV or rubella, proper arrangement of pet care, safe sexual conduct.
- During pregnancy: Eliminating pathogen exposure, close monitoring of pregnancy and fetal development, proper delivery and neonatal strategy.
Advantages of CTK’s ToRCH Panel
- 5-in-1 test: Determination of infection status of all 5 diseases in a single test device by detecting and differentiating BOTH IgM and IgG in all 5 tests.
- Differentiation of HSV-1 & HSV-2: Type-specific detection of HSV-1 and HSV-2 infection, which share many similarities.
- Follows US CDC Guidelines: Utilizes recombinant HSV-specific glycoprotein G1 and G2 for type-specific detection of HSV-1 and HSV-2 infection as recommended by US CDC.
- Semi-quantitative detection of Rubella IgG in specimens.
1. Level 1: Analytic sensitivity 15 IU/mL, indicating protective immunity.
2. Level 2: Analytic sensitivity 250 IU/mL, indicating acute infection.
- Whole blood specimen: Can be run with whole blood patient specimens, enabling true Point-of-Care testing.
