Research Associate (Molecular cloning, Protein expression)

Position Summary

The R&D Research Associate is mainly responsible for developing novel biologics for new diagnostic test kits and for process improvements for production of existing biologics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform PCR, cloning, plasmid preparation
  • Perform cell culture duties related to monoclonal antibody development including cell banking and antibody expression
  • Perform protein purification, SDS-PAGE, and ELISAs
  • Interpret and present results to management
  • Write reports and maintain documents/records
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience

  • MS or BS in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or equivalent
  • At least 2 year relevant lab experience required (particularly with cloning and cell culture)
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and transient or stable expression techniques
  • Experience with protein characterization assays (SDS-PAGE, ELISA, western blots, etc.)
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Hands-on experience with PCR, molecular cloning techniques, protein expression in mammalian cell systems
  • Ability to work alone and excellent ability to work well with a team
  • Computer literate
  • Excellent written English

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Cloning and expression of rMab in eukaryotic cell lines.
  • Scale up of tissue culture
