Rubella

Rubella virus infections typically appear during childhood and take a mild course, however, severe damage can occur in unborn children if the mother becomes infected shortly before or within the first few months of pregnancy. It is extremely important for pregnant women to have an accurate serological determination of Rubella antibodies if an acute infection with Rubella virus is suspected or in the case of an imperfect vaccination.
